The 2018 International Residential Code (IRC) has been adopted in its entirety, including Section R313. In the past, we consistently included an amendment to exempt residential properties from fire suppression requirements, primarily because numerous lots in Unincorporated Lake County rely on well water.

When I was in La Grange we required residential fire sprinklers but had an exception if you used all dimensional lumber, with no engineered wood and 5/8 Type X drywall throughout the home including the basement ceiling you did not need residential sprinklers.
