Question – how does your municipality calculate permit fees and plan review fees for new construction?  For brevity, small miscellaneous fees can be disregarded.

 Example 1:  Permit fees are based off estimated cost of construction (determined by the most recent published ICC BVD table) times a multiplier of 5.  Plan review fee is 10% of the calculated permit fee.

Example 2:  Permit fees are a flat fee for new construction based on total area.  0-999 sqft = $5,000; 1,000-2,499 sqft = $10,000; 2,500+ sqft = $10,000 plus $10/sqft over 2,500.  Plan review fee is $500.
